If you don't check any options, the LAs will be displayed alphabetically. The middle column labelled "new cases" will show the 2013 total + all the additional children and young people who became home educated during the year. The LH column will be scaled relative to the nearest hundred, for example an authority with 175 children will end at 200, while a local authority with 580 home educated children will end at 600.
If you keep with default alphabetical ordering, but check "Absolute Scaling" then the LH column will go up to 1500 as the highest figure in the country is 1400+. This demonstrates how few home educated children there are in most local authorities. If you just want some idea of scale but don't want to include the very highest number, check "Exclude Kent."
If you want to see the percentage increase between 2013 and 2014 year-end totals expressed as a gradient, check "Show Percentage"
Changing the options in the drop down list will alter the order in which the charts appear. The default is alphabetical, but you can also sort by "percent increase" which orders all the LAs from the greatest percentage increase over the year to the most decreased. Within percent increase, you can experiment with the chart display by checking "Absolute Scaling".
Clicking on "July 2014" will display snapshot numbers from smallest to largest, grouped 0-50, 50-100, 100-200 and so on. Quick Link If you check "Absolute Scaling" then the LH column will go up to 1500 as the highest figure in the country is 1400+. Quick Link
Clicking on "July 2013" will display snapshot numbers from smallest to largest, grouped 0-50, 50-100, 100-200 and so on.
