Page updated February 10th 2026. The Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Bill is expected to receive royal assent by Easter 2026 and become an Act of Parliament. When the bill becomes law, the sections giving regulation-making powers will be commenced so that the government can start working on the secondary legislation (regulations and guidance) necessary before the Children Not In School legal changes can come into force, probably end of 2026.
